Are you planning to hit the road for the holidays? It’s important not to forget your dental care essentials when you travel! Continue reading to discover what’s on our packing list for a healthy smile.

Caring for Your Smile on the Road

Taking care of your smile is always important, but when you’re on the road it can be hard to remember to keep up your normal dental care routine — and even harder to find the opportunity to do it! But it’s important not to neglect your normal routine so that issues like cavities, gum disease, or other dental problems don’t sneak up on you while you’re having fun.

When you pack right, it can make it a lot easier to keep up your routines and keep your smile looking and feeling its best. So what’s on our packing list for a healthy smile?

Pack These Essentials

Our packing list for a healthy smile starts first of all with a toothbrush and toothpaste. But we also recommend adding items like floss, floss picks, and mouthwash. Keeping your teeth healthy while you travel is a lot like keeping your teeth healthy while you are at home — it’s important to keep them clean by brushing after each meal and flossing daily. Mouthwash and dental picks can be helpful stand-ins to help clear away food debris and plaque for those times when you’re unable to brush or use regular floss.

Shopping for Travel Products

Shopping for dental care products for a trip can be fun! Most products come in small travel-size editions to help make packing easier. Just make sure that any products you purchase are approved by the ADA (American Dental Association) to help ensure that they don’t contain any ingredients that could be harmful to your teeth (such as sugar) and contain all the necessary ingredients to keep your teeth healthy and strong (like fluoride).

We often recommend packing your essentials in your purse or carry-on bag so that they are always ready to access just in case your luggage gets lost on a plane or packed at the bottom of a pile of suitcases in the car. Travel-sized products are perfect for this — most come small enough to fit inside your coat or pants pocket so you can take great care of your smile wherever you are!
